Hospital was inaugurated in 2008. This is the first hospital specifically for
children in Taiwan, and provides continuum of medical-care services from
mother, birth, newborn, to child.
Since 1994, doctors
and professors of Pediatrics in NTUH had
called upon Taiwan government to the founding of national children’s hospital.
Taiwan Executive Yuan
approved the constructionplan of NTUChildren's Hospital in 1994, then revised and divided
the project into two stages. Thefirststage was renamed “theNational Taiwan University HospitalChildren's MedicalbuildingProgram ", before enteringthesecondstageofthe establishment oftheChildren's Hospital.
construction started on October 14, 2003, and the main structural
engineering was completed in 2006. On July 14, 2008, NTUH started out
outpatient service trial operation, then the relocation of pediatric wards,
department of surgery, neonatology. On Dec 27, 2008, NTU Children’s Hospital
was finally inaugurated.
National Taiwan University Hospital wanted
to alter the cold medical environment a warm and cheerful paradise, giving the sick children and the family a pleasant experience.Therefore, artist Lee and his team spent 4 years
making this hospital achildren's art museum with the theme of “Healthy
building there was a modern sculpture “Colorful Castle of Love”, which is the

area, elevators, nursingstationand games rooms. Theseworkshelp the children, their parents, doctors and nurses to face the illness more optimistically and become more powerfultofight diseases.

these games and art, so he thought that he was in the playground instead of the
boring hospital. When he called his mother he forgot where he was and replied "Icansee a
doctor in the children's playground!Yeah!"
Children’s Hospital became Taiwan’s first hospital with public arts designed specifically
for children, and a famous travel spot in Taipei as well.
